“Many parents have been called on, at one time or another, to participate in fundraisers. If your child attends a private school, is a part of the Girl or Boy Scouts, belongs to the drama club or band, is involved in sports, participates in church activities, or many other activities, you are probably more than familiar with fundraisers.
If an organization is not funded by the state, or doesn’t receive enough money from the state, fundraising is an ideal way to raise the needed money. It is a great opportunity to make money and at the same time, helps the local community support its much wanted clubs and activities.
The Different Types Of Fundraising
As we all know, there are different types of fundraising. One popular type is selling a product in order to receive a part of the profit. This method is commonly used for sports teams or school activities and clubs. In the past, a company called Joe Corby’s has been popular in helping schools to raise money. Certain items such as cookies, cookie mixes, candy, chocolates and pizza are sold by both middle school and high school students. These products are ideal to use for raising money. They are inexpensive but delicious and produce good profits for the needy organization.
The other type of raising money is selling a product and keeping all of the profit. This is mostly used by church groups and private schools. The products being sold are donated by parents, organizations and businesses. The most popular type of event to raise money using this technique, is the selling of baked goods. Food and baked goods are donated and then sold to buyers. Full profit is kept by the vendors.
A car wash is another great way to offer a service to the community and then be able to keep the profit. Students and children as well as adults, donate their time and energy to wash vehicles. The funds created will go to the organization. Another fine example of raising needed funds, is selling goods at an auction. The items are donated by local businesses as well as parents, and then auctioned off to the highest bidder. All the money is then given to the organization.
Why Should Fundraising Be Used?
There are many reasons why fundraising is used. Sometimes, it is used to help parents with tuition costs. With the economy like it is, this is extremely helpful. Many times, public school sports teams do not get the needed funding and must provide funds to buy uniforms or equipment.
Sometimes, activities such as the school’s drama club or chorus don’t receive funding from either the school or the state and it becomes a necessity to raise money for many things such as costumes and uniforms. So you see, fundraising offers a great help to the students in your local schools, so be sure you readily use your finances to help them in whatever way you find possible. Support your local fundraisers!”
